The Composite Panel Association Recognizes Dale Garges at 2019 Fall Meeting

ATLANTA - November 20, 2019 - Business Continuous Improvement Manager of ARAUCO North America Dale Garges was honored at the Composite Panel Association’s (CPA) 2019 Fall Meeting last month.  Garges was acknowledged as outgoing chairman of the Production-Technical Committee for his leadership and contributions to the CPA during his two-year term.

 

Garges was distinguished during the Chairman’s dinner at the CPA Fall Meeting held in conjunction with the Material, Technology and Design Symposium from October 6 – 8 in Denver, Colorado.  This innovative event brings together industry thought leaders, notable speakers, and key figures to discover the latest design trends, material, and technology.

 

Under Garges’ stewardship of the CPA’s Production-Technical Committee, significant progress was made on several fronts.  This includes:

  • Updating the industry-wide Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for North American particleboard and medium density fiberboard (MDF);
  • Establishing a TFL task group to develop a North American standard;
  • Conducting long-term decay and barrier effectiveness and VOC studies;
  • Carrying out improvements to the monthly safety report; and
  • Contributing to the development of the Committee’s Strategic Plan for the next five years.

 

“Dale Garges has served as the Chairman of CPA’s Production-Technical Committee for two years,” says CPA Senior Director of Marketing Allyson O’Sullivan.  “Dale truly exemplifies the very best qualities of a dedicated leader.  His willingness to step-up and contribute on numerous projects demonstrates leadership by example.”

Garges has been making particleboard and medium density fiberboard for more than 30 years, during which time he has held leadership roles with the composite divisions of both Temple-Inland and Georgia-Pacific.  Garges joined ARAUCO in 2014, having served in past roles as Business Quality Manager and Eastern Technical Manager.  Garges will begin his two-year term as past chair of the CPA Production-Technical Committee in January 2020.
